Presentation

The Blood and Brain Institute @ Caen-Normandie is a unique and competitive structure designed to optimize and strengthen research and innovation in the field of blood-brain interactions, with a particular focus on neurovascular disorders (strokes), which are a major public health issue worldwide. This is also a strategic focus for the Caen-Normandie site, with the potential to extend this type of structure to other areas such as neuroinflammation, brain aging, and psychiatry.

The Blood and Brain Institute @Caen-Normandie was created on October 1st, 2019, and is now a Scientific Interest Group (GIS – agreement signed in March 2020), with founding members including Inserm, the University of Caen Normandy, and the Caen Normandy University Hospital (CHU).

The main objectives of BB@C are to develop a coherent scientific strategy, provide resources to support responses to national and international calls for projects, and offer support for emerging and innovative internal projects. These three levers are intended to have a “transformative” effect, leading to increased visibility and attractiveness. One of the major goals is to establish a sustainable institute where research themes and teams can grow in the future.
